This refreshing new course provides a new way of learning the skills with the help of an occupational therapist and coach.
A bespoke Dementia Programme to guide and support families along the journey. The aim of the six sessions is to give supporting partners and families the confidence to know they are giving the best possible care for their loved one to live well with Dementia. We show you how to make day to day ups and downs of family life, with Dementia, easier and as rewarding as possible. At the end of the six sessions you will have a comprehensive overview of Dementia and the journey ahead. You will gain new skills, make friends and practice using new tools and find additional resources locally.

Objective: To create a support and a 'wrap-around' lifestyle plan for personalised care and well-being.

Our six sessions cover the following:
Understand Dementia: Dementia and how memory works.
Community Support: Being a supporting partner and getting the right help at the right time
Significant Life Themes: the approach and skills to manage those difficult emotional times
Communication that Works: the practical day-to-day tools and techniques to maintain independence.
Communication that Works: Therapeutic skills to maintain relationships (empathy)
Future Care: ensuring a smooth transition into other care environments.
This course includes Validation Therapy and Self-Help Workbooks. The first 30 minutes with the client is complimentary with an introductory workbook to agree the sessions required.
