Staff can identify factors that promote or inhibit positive relationships and person centred support in meeting the measures of good care and community that relatives use to judge the quality of the resident’s care (360 Standard Framework Outcome Standards for Relatives).

Learning outcomes: participants will be able to:
1. List the benefits to the resident that can result from involving close relatives in decision-making about his/her care and the Home life
2. Outline key responsibilities of staff towards the resident’s close relatives during their visits from the interconnected perspectives of the relative’, the resident and staff.
3. Describe ways in which the staff member can respond to relatives who want to talk about their changed role from being the resident’s main carer to being main visitor.
4. Using examples, outline ways in which staff can involve the resident’s relative in the resident’s care and daily life taking account of what both resident and relative wish and the responsibilities of staff involved.
5. Identify a learning need and agree an action plan with a timescale for completion
360 Forward courses and the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF): a perfect fit. Intermediate courses are designed to be responsive to employers and individual staff needs. In line with the QCF each course contains learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
